Marissa--Thanks for the good vibes. I think that (for a variety of reasons) it is much much more likely that they watch our house and also heard me call off the dogs the first time. Also that my car was not parked in its usual space.

EL--Yeah, I suspect that they won't be back. The door is locked, though. We're fine. I'm just annoyed that I am feeling a little distrustful these days.

They've probably heard you speak so they knew you were american. When they first arrived they realized that your were home so they left. Then they probably watched the house and saw you leave, thats when they tried again. But were surprised by the cleaner being in your home.

My guess is that they are east-europeans.

Thanks, for it all. We were thinking that maybe they were undercover or some such, but they came in three on the first time and also they didn't knock when Lillie was barking. Then they came in later when the dogs were upstairs. And the police asked the undercover division (because we are happy to answer questions for an investigation) but they said no as well.

Gretchen, Can you even believe it??? And really? I knew that the police couldn't just walk in, but if something happened we'd be in trouble? That's crazy. In any case, the dogs won't be put up any more and the doors will always be locked.

That is completely scary! I believe they were posing as police to get in, and god knows what they would have done. Police are not allowed to just walk into your house like that. But be careful how you react if something should happen because the laws here are not for the victum in house invasions. If you asaulted the intruder, they could put you in jail. It's really crazy. (not that you would, but maybe your husband denfending himself or something)Chances of them not being Norsk is very high also.

I was ALWAYS freaked out when Arnfinn went offshore and left me alone for 2 weeks at a time. Twice I had someone buzz in our apartment (it had been empty for almost a year before we moved in & no one knew we lived there except his family that lived 10 hours away).

That sounds really creepy but maybe they were P.I.'s? or FBI, CIA types and its in regards to a neighbor?? I always try not to think the worst. I'm not sure if you're much of a religious type (I'm not really) but I'll say a prayer of safety for you & your family.

Elizabeth, take him to Gamle Stavanger tonight! Knock on Kyrre's door (Mellomstræn something or other!) for candy! I think lots of little kids will be out there tonight and it's very walkable with all those candles in the windows (some good photo ops too!) Yay!

elliot was almost seven month old...but this is really just a function of his personality, i think. he's not the oldest baby in the class, even. he's just the most mobile, vocal and lively, by far. if you have a baby who is immobile and calm, you'll probably be fine...also, the teacher is wonderful.
